Small local Italian. First visit was a good experience. Veal meatballs were well seasoned and the brown sauce was a change from typical Italian red. The wild mushroom ravioli were tasty but the red sage sauce lacked sage flavor. All in all a good meal

My family and I have been going to Ruffino's for years and there is a big reason why: The food is better than anyone else's and despite the prices, it will actually save you money. Although the plates are 18-35 dollars a piece, you can almost guarantee leftovers for at least two nights afterwards. The meals are always made fresh, and I have never come away from this restaurant feeling like I wasted my money. Even if I did not particularly enjoy a dish, it has never been because it was of poor quality cooking, but because I was unfamiliar with the flavor I was greeted with. With that being said, let's get to the food. The appetizers are delicious and meant to be split between 4-5 people. Mussels in garlic sauce are to die for, my family and I use a loaf of bread to sop up the sauce, lest it be wasted. The fried calamari melts in your mouth and the same goes from the pizza bread. The house salad is a nice blend of different lettuces, honeydew, marinated peppers, tomatoes, an olive or two, a sharp, asiago-like cheese, and a vinaigrette that ties it all together. There are so many delicious entrees I can only list some of my favorites: Veal or chicken francese, Seafood Capellini, Zuppe de Pesce (house specialty seafood dinner), Chicken Marsala, or anything really from the sea. The location is small, and can get crowded during busy hours, I recommend going during the week or earlier in the evening if you go on a weekend. Perfect place to go with family and enjoy a good meal. The pizzeria next door, Joe's, is owned by the same person and pretty much anything you want to order at the restaurant is on his take-out menu for Joe's. Ignore the people who write bad reviews about this place, I have personally seen the kitchen and you could eat off of the floor. The owner can be a bit cantankerous if you are rude to him and his cooking, as he takes this more seriously than anyone else I know. The proof is in the pudding however, and the food at Ruffino's is the best Italian food around! Also, stay for dessert and coffee, the Tiramisu is to die for!

Bad Experience!! This restaurant is infested with rodents including the Owner. He is a total jerk, rude, obnoxious and altogether very unprofessional. He was intoxicated and verbally abusive to the customers. I wouldn't eat here if it was the last place on earth. Food was Stale. They need an exterminator and FDA rep to raid and shut it down.

I ate here three times in the last month, seeing some really good revieiws, and some not so good, I have to wonder if some of the bad reviews actually ate here??, First of all , this is some of the freshest, and best Italian food I,ve had, Met the owner twice, he could not have been nicer. We had the octopus salad. the best I have ever had, period!! We had a veal chop one night, fell off the bone delicious, Last night I had linguini with white clam sauce, It was awesome and the pasta made to perfection. I am of Italian decent, and this is an authentic Italian hidden gem. (Syndia R, either you had an off night, or you know nothing of Italian food.. sorry) This is my new favorite place. try the veal, and Italian cheese cake. simply the best! p.s Santo and Christian are both great attentive waiters

A small neighborhood eatery that has been around forever. Large parties should def. make a reservation, the place can only sit about 30 people. Awesome service, the head waiter has been there since my first time dining years ago. The owner is also the chef, and comes out of the kitchen nightly to check on the tables and make sure everyone is enjoying their meal. A pretty extensive Italian menu, never had anything I didn't like. The complimentary house salad with honeydew melon is great. The Zuppa di Pesce is a huge portion and delicious. The steaks & chops are grilled to perfection. Pastas are awesome as well. Prices vary from $19 -$35 for entrees, but the portions are deserving of the price tag. Saw a fellow YELPer stating that the pasta sauce was the quality of Ragu from a jar...I honestly wouldn't know what jarred sauce tastes like, but you my friend, are an idiot. This place is homemade Italian cooking, done by an Italian owner, and the fact that he is personally in the kitchen every night shows the love he has for his food.

I haven't been here in years so we decided to stop in and try it. I remember years ago the clams were delicious, but I forgot about that it was a little bit pricey for a restaurant connected to a pizzeria. I think most of the main dishes were over $25, since we were on a budget we got pasta dishes. The food was good, service was a little slow but we were not in a rush so we had a nice relaxing time. We almost felt like outcasts, It seemed all the other diners were regulars or knew the staff/owner. The restaurant is small with a little bar and a pizza place all connected. We enjoyed what we got, (penne carbonara and I got pasta with arrabiato sauce). My only complaint was that arrabiato is supposed to have hot pepper in it, to be a little spicy, which it was not at all. The portions are large so the meal was even more delicious the next day when we took half of it home. (I added my own red pepper to spice it up!) The food was fresh and the chef came out to make sure everything was OK. One day when we feel like spending some extra money, we will come back for the linguini with clam sauce.

I've been going to ruffinos/joes pizza for 20 years. Sal (the owner) still doesn't recognize me and pretty much treats me like crap. The food is good tho. Don't call to pick up food unless you want to get yelled at.

My family has been going to Ruffino's for years. The seafood and meat is always fresh and the portions are very large for the price. The salad is crisp and refreshing. (In the summer, there's melon in it.) The fried calamari, pizza bread, and mussels in garlic sauce are out of this world! All three are full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Recommended entrées are veal parmigiana, stuffed shrimp, seafood fra diablo, lasagna, and the shrimp and pasta, but we've never been disappointed with a meal. The place is small and can get crowded during busy hours. If you prefer a quiet meal, eating early (4 or 5 pm) on weekends is preferable. Ruffino's and Joe's Pizzeria are owned by the same owner and the restaurants actually connect. If you order takeout from Joe's you will actually get the same thing that you would get in the restaurant but in a to-go container! YUM!

A large family dinner there last Sunday........The sauce used for all of the dishes we ate was the same. The pasta was overcooked. The veal spiedini were dry and lacking in taste, looking like beef bracciole. The prices were ridiculously high. And, to boot, even though we had a dinner reservation, we had to wait almost an hour while a private party was still being served in the dining room. By the way, the bill was handwritten (We checked the addition; seems like they don't have a real printed receipt). The "specials" had no prices listed.......Never again......Mai piu'.....(That's real Italian for never again...)

We ate there on a Friday evening. The staff and owner were extremely friendly. The food quality was at best, pizza store quality. I felt like I was eating at a Spanish restaurant and all the foods were overcooked. I would only go back to order a pizza pie,,,, Better value restaurants are nearbye.... Hope this helps....

I went to Ruffino's for the fist time this month. This was on the weekend in which the NYC area experienced a heat wave in which we had over 100 degrees for a couple of days. As soon as we walked in, we immediately saw that it was hot !!! Easily 85 degrees, if not hotter, and humid. We asked the waiter why it was so hot in the place and he could not explain the reason for it. He advised that 2 new A/C units were recently installed. Perhaps they forgot how to turn them only? Or he's so cheap that he would rather have his customers be uncomfortable rather that pay a slightly higher electric bill for that month. The house salad they served was very warm and drowned with Italian dressing...not the good stuff mind you....the Wishbone tasting stuff. Just terrible. The salt shaker, due the the heat and humidity, crusted up. In order to get salt out, and then stick a knife into the shaker to break up the solid rock that had formed in it. The Chicken Francese and the Grilled Swordfish were tasty, although the Swordfish was overcooked by a couple of minutes, making it drier than grilled chicken breast. The sauce they use for the side pasta dishes is probably the pizza sauce they use in the pizzeria next door rather than a simple marinara. Its thickness and taste was almost identical to warm tomato paste. Ragu straight out of the jar tastes better. The staff was very nice and were continuously checking on how we doing with our meal. I do not recommend going there during a hot night...as I overheard one of the other waiters saying to another couple that the A/C does not seem to work well when it's over 80 degrees outside. Just an FYI.

Decent service, but severely overpriced and not worth it. This isn't the city, and I can't believe this little Italian place can charge $25-30 for entrees that aren't anything special.

  • Lefty G.

I love a good laugh while enjoying good food, and that best describes my experiences at Ruffino's. The owner is a riot, how he curses at kids stopping in on their way home from school, or customers who complain about anything! Last time I was there, a woman complained about the price of broccoli rabe, and Sal told her to get the F out and buy it down the street at Regina's. My wife and I cried from laughter! If you want to be entertained while eating good Italian, this is the place for you!

  • Maddie O.

This is where I head when I want the best tasting pizza. They have some different choices, but usually its the plain slice. Something about the sauce & cheese that just feels like friday to me. Good thing I go on Friday, Monday's they're closed I want to try the zeppole, which they seem to have on Friday, but never have the room for it. Small take out area, owner is somewhat short tempered but hey, he's an artist!

  • Angelo M.

I have been eating at Ruffino's for over 30 years! Sal works hard to create a friendly environment with delicious traditional Italian food. The veal, chicken and shrimp dishes are all terrific, the specials add variety, and you can sit and have a relaxing time and never be hurried by the attentive staff. Sal will usually walk through the dining room, and it's always a nice touch as long-time patrons and newbies alike are warmly greeted. I recommend it as a great Italian restaurant to all my friends and family. The pizza next door (Joe's Pizza) is also Sal's (where he still makes the pies on Friday nights). It's where I get my pizza when I'm not eating a big meal. Enjoy!

Started coming here recently. The food is always fresh, never had a bad meal here. Ruffinos is old world Italian. Their fish and clams are always fresh. Chicken picatta, is terriffic. Calamari always made perfect. The pasta , always al dente. The owner Sal, may have a gruff exterior, but from what I have seen, he has a big heart. I,ve eaten here a dozen times, in the last few months. i grew up with Italian food, and eaten at lots of italian the places in the city. This place makes everything custom order, so be patient. This is italian food like mamma used to make. try his toasted almond cake for dessert with an expresso, its to die for delicious!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
